See who is above you, keyword by keyword
Every SERP check you run already captured the competition. Competitor tracking just reads it back.
Built from checks you have already run
The data is a by product of tracking your own positions.
Every position check stores the top twenty organic results, which means it also stored whoever was above you. Add a competitor domain and Pebble reads that history back rather than going and fetching it again. Pebble also suggests competitors, taken from the domains that keep appearing in the SERPs you have already checked, which is a more honest list than the one you would write from memory.
Average position per competitor, as a line
Ten competitors per property, on one chart.
Track up to ten domains for a property and watch each one's average position across your tracked keywords over time. Underneath, a table gives keywords in the top twenty, average position, and how those positions are distributed across bands, so you can tell a competitor who is slowly climbing from one who won a single keyword.
Four questions, one competitor at a time
The four ways a keyword can sit between you and them.
- Losing to them. You both rank, they rank higher. This is the work list.
- Beating them. You both rank, you rank higher. This is the defence list.
- They rank and you do not. The clearest gap there is.
- You rank and they do not. What you have that they have not noticed.
It only sees what you have checked
One real limitation, and it is worth understanding.
Gap analysis compares the keywords you track. It cannot show you a keyword a competitor ranks for that you have never tracked, because Pebble never checked it. If you want the gap to widen its view, widen the tracked list first, then run a check. Keyword research is the place to find the candidates.
